What We Believe Class of 2017

Communion

Matt. 26.26-30 26  And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, "Take, eat; this is My body."27  Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you.28  "For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.29  "But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom." 30  And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

  2. Not examining one’s self
  3. Not understanding
    1. A Non-Christian (not yet Christian) If one has not accepted Christ how can he proclaim the Lord’s death, or understand the sacrifice of His body.
    2. Insincere Christians. IF one is not living the Christian life he should pollute himself with the bread and wine of hypocrisy.
  1. True communion or fellowship I Cor. 10.15-17
  1. To have fellowship with Christ Matt. 18.20
  2. Fellowship with one another (a very unique kind of sharing)
  3. That which was expected to unify us divides us
    1. Transubstantiation, some say that the juice physically becomes the blood and the bread the body of Christ when we partake Matt. 26.26-29
    2. A Memorial, a memorial is to the dead not the living.
    3. It is a communion with the living Jesus Christ, a fellowship, a sharing.
  4. Frequency; Some say that less is more, but no Biblical reference to back up this theory.
